There were no negative side effects at all.

This fungus is IN the nail itself and had been for many years.

Silver had eliminated it in the nail bed where there is a blood/nail interface long ago, but being very thick slow growing nails, had persisted in the nail itself.

The Silver ions that kill the fungus has no mobility to "Seek&Destroy" in a nearly waterproof solid, BUT, most ingested metals deposit in the nails and hair thus forming a barrier that fungi cannot grow through, or at least slows it down further than the rate of nail growth.

After a few weeks a distinct line forms between infected and clear nail and the infection grows off the end to be trimmed.
